Access All Areas: Livestream Program takes your students on a journey into the world of Cinderella without leaving the classroom.

Over a series of four interactive workshops, students will explore the process of producing opera and become familiar with the creative elements involved as they meet members of the cast and creative team. The program concludes with an archival recording of Cinderella, performed in 2016.

Please note: While the livestreamed workshops and performance have already taken place, the entire program is now available to watch on-demand. 

Ideal for Primary School students in Years Foundation to 6.

Registrations open until Friday 18 September.

Workshop information

All four workshops run for approximately 25 minutes and are easily accessed online. Students can log on remotely to watch each workshop and the performance on-demand, with content available until 11 December. 

Workshop 1: What is opera? 
Meet members of the cast as they introduce the different voice types and singing styles unique to opera.

Workshop 2: The role of the ensemble
Uncover the importance of the ensemble in opera and hear examples of ensemble singing performed by members of the cast.

Workshop 3: Opera and fairy tales
Delve into the history of the Cinderella fairy tale and explore how the story is enhanced when set to music.

Workshop 4: Opera in production 
Discover the process involved in producing an opera, from the early concept development stages to bumping in the set at the theatre.

Performance: Cinderella 
Watch all the elements combine in Victorian Opera’s production of Cinderella.

Cinderella’s stepmother and stepsisters are off to Prince Charming’s ball leaving Cinderella at home wishing she could attend. Luckily, with the help of the Fairy Godmother, Cinderella gets her wish and heads off to the ball in a beautiful gown and glass slippers but must return by midnight. 

Please note: This production of Cinderella will be sung in French with English scene descriptors.

How do my students access the program from home?

Once you register, we will send you an email with the link and login details you and your students will need to access each workshop and the performance. If you’re teaching remotely, please forward this email to your students so they can log on at home.

During the COVID-19 close-down period, Victorian Opera is offering the 2020 Access All Areas: Livestream Program at no cost to help schools work remotely.
